WORD FOR THE WEEK: WE HAVE A LEGACY OF ADVANCEMENT

Gen 26:12-14: Then Isaac sowed in that land, ….. And the man waxed great, and went forward, and grew until he became very great: …. (KJV)
Welcome to the last Sunday in the month of August. God has been moving His church forward in every possible way, He has made room for us and we are fruitful in the land. From scriptures we have seen that God has provided for us a generational blessing, all our Fathers in the faith made significant progress in every area of their lives leaving for us a Legacy of Advancement. Our covenant Fathers achieved success by ending their journey well which is the definition of success. Success is knowing God’s purpose for one’s life and fulfilling it.
Starting with our Father Abraham, God called him and gave him instructions concerning His plan for his life (Gen.12:1-4) and Abraham without questions departed and began the journey to fulfilling his destiny. Even though there were challenges on the way, he went forward and eventually overcame. Abraham left us a legacy of faith and patience that when we have these we are bound to advance no matter the opposition and that is why the bible says in Heb 6:12-15 “That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises…..Abraham, ….. after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise”. Are you going through any challenge right now, know that God is faithful, but you need to connect to the legacy of advancement through faith and patience.
Isaac was another of our Fathers that went forward, even in the midst of adversity from the people of Gerar, he never gave up but kept digging and eventually overcame. He left us a legacy of diligence and persistence, that when you refuse to give up, you will eventually wear out your enemies. That is why the bible says in 2 Pet 1:10 “Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:”(KJV). Many today are at the point of giving up, you are experiencing ups and downs, mountain today valley tomorrow but I am here today to tell you, don’t give up! The bible says in Gal 4:28 “Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise.” which means we are the Isaac of this generation and therefore as we diligently and persistently focus on His purpose for our lives, we shall advance. How about Jacob, from a disadvantage position of being a second child and a history of supplanting, he changed his destiny by wrestling with God in prayer and by covenant. The bible says in Gen 32:28…."Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel; for you have struggled with God and with men, and have prevailed."
Beloved, God has given us a legacy of advancement, your DNA carries everything required to go forward. Connect to this legacy with faith, diligence, patience, persistence and prayer; it is your time to advance!
